Should I help movers?
The main reason in hiring a professional mover is for you to be stress-free during this transition. On the other hand, if you want to help, you will be more than welcome to do so. The best thing you could do is to offer some refreshments, keep your home safe and keep your children focused on other things so they don’t get in the way.
When should I hire a moving company?
Hiring your moving company a few months in advance is an ideal lead time. This will allow you to hire the best movers and to get the best price possible.
How long does it take to move a home?
We can’t tell how long your moving will last because many factors may affect the timing. The weather, the distance, the size of your relocation etc.
Do I tip the movers?
Tipping is never expected, but always appreciated!

We have recently had a move with Greater Austin moving & storage. In our case it was really used as both long 3 years storage and then move our belongings and furniture from Austin TX to Washington DC, and at that us being away from Austin.The move went better than any other move we ever had. Being a small consulting high tech company we moved a lot, so we have plenty to compare with.This is by far the best one. Really strongly recommend to anyone in need of moving.

I was blown away with these guys. Lowest quote of the 3 I received. They were on time, very professional and courteous, wrapped all furniture and moved without a scratch, and finished in slightly under the quoted time. The team from Greater Austin Moving just couldn’t have been better! Thank you so much to Erik, David, Brandon and Chris for making a stressful day go incredibly smooth- we even had some laughs along the way. A superb bunch of folks with amazing work ethic and good hearts. They did everything that we asked of them and more. Not a thing was damaged, walls were protected, everything on the other end was set up perfectly, all furniture and boxes ended up in the right places and we are so grateful! Overall great experience and would recommend! The booking process was straightforward and they were responsive, with an easy to understand quote and online portal. We hired for both packing and moving, which based on a few questions and pictures provided of our current place they opted to split into two days. Both days they arrived on time and worked diligently throughout the day. They were very careful in moving heavy/fragile items, and made sure to break down everything that needed to be, as well as set everything back up exactly how we wanted in our new place.We've unpacked about 80% of our stuff, but so far NOTHING has been broken or damaged which is really impressive as I've never moved where that's been the case.I'll say from a "value" standpoint, I thought the packing took a little too long and while I can understand being extra cautious in ensuring no damage to things a lot of the packing seemed unnecessary and a waste of time. That would be fine if they didn't charge by the hour. Things like wrapping individual plastic tupperware in paper or just filling 1/3 of every box with paper regardless of contents come to mind. As a result, they went way over the quoted time on both packing day and move day and our move ended up only being about $600 cheaper than a cross-country move from Philly we had done 2 years ago, where we actually had more items and also utilized packing services. Those packers took 2 hours less to pack, but then they also broke a couple items so maybe that's just the trade off. If I had to do this move again, I probably would have just packed as the small odds and ends/kitchen which seemed to take the longest myself and hired them for the rest.Again, I would absolutely recommend the company, just be aware you will be paying a premium particularly if you choose packing services.

Received estimates from a few companies, but this was the only company that came out prior to the move to give an estimate after viewing everything that needed to be moved from our house. The actual move was right in line with their estimate. I also had them come a couple days before the move to finish packing which was well worth it.

I cannot recommend Great Austin Moving enough. They are the most professional and organized moving company I’ve ever used. I was promptly contacted after I put in a request online and was able to schedule a quick walkthrough to receive a quote from Tori. She was in contact with me, checking in throughout the entire process. We used their packing service (which is worth every penny). Tori, Vicki, and Jennifer were incredibly quick, organized and did an incredible job taking care of our belongings. We were pleasantly surprised at even the detailed labeling on our boxes, making the unpacking process for us much easier.The next day Erik, Kannon and Brandon did our move. Again, on time and organized. They were efficient and went the extra mile to ensure that everything was safely in its place. The entire team did such a great job communicating with me and with each other. Best moving experience I’ve had in the many moves I’ve made over the years. Would definitely use them again in the future!

BEST MOVING & STORAGE COMPANY IN TEXAS! I was so impressed with the amount of care put into moving my entire apartment. All of my belongings were wrapped neatly and safely to ensure nothing was broken/damaged. Tammy is extremely kind and caring, she checked on me throughout my move and storage process (which was over 6 months) and even followed up with me to make sure I made it to my destination safely. If you are looking for professional movers then look no further! The service that Greater Austin Moving & Storage provides is simply stellar and Tori is most definitely a shining star!!! We were so fortunate to have Tori as our project manager on the job, which just let me say was no ordinary job!!! Without going into details, it was not your typical move, it was very complex and utterly overwhelming!!! In fact, I really can’t imagine any other professional movers being able to handle it! Tori navigated and organized the entire job and was in constant communication with us while we were out of state, with such an incredible level of professionalism and something that isn’t very common these days… respect, caring and kindness, which meant more to us than words can ever say! Moving is extremely stressful under normal circumstances, this move was indescribably beyond stressful with very abnormal circumstances, but having Tori in charge alleviated a great deal of stress and worry. Tori and her entire team are beyond competent and completely trustworthy. If you are in need of help with a future move or something a bit more complicated, do yourself a huge favor and hire Greater Austin Moving & Storage! I can’t recommend them enough nor can I ever possibly thank Tori enough for everything she did for us that went way above and beyond!!!

From start to finish, this company is about taking all the stress away from moving to a new home. I personally felt as well taken care of by the considerate staff as all of the boxes and furniture they safely moved to my new house. I cannot possibly speak more highly of Greater Austin Moving. This is the second time I've hired them, and I even had one of the same movers as I did the last time! They are trustworthy, careful, and will go above and beyond for you. You really can't find anyone better, and I say that after having moved seven times previous in the past seven years. I'm so happy I used Greater Austin for my recent move. I was anxious about the process because I needed to store my furniture for a few weeks in between apartments, but Tammy worked with me on the quote and planning for storage and made the whole scheduling process a breeze. On the actual move days, Jim and his coworkers were very friendly and polite. Jim communicated proactively and was either on time or early for both moves which was much appreciated! They took great care of my furniture and other items, and I will definitely use them again in the future. I appreciated how friendly Dakota was when answering the phone and answering all my questions. The packing ladies did a great job organizing and labeling all the boxes — and nothing broke in the move! I've moved more than 2 dozen times in my adult life...from local to cross country and everything in-between. This may have been one of the smoothest moves I have ever had. I just repainted the entire interior of my new condo. I was hoping, but not expecting the walls would stay clean and undamaged. I've never had a move where there weren't at least a few dents, nicks, scrapes, or dirty handprints on the walls. Somehow the crew managed to leave everything in pristine condition. Not one single mark on the walls, even the narrow stairwell. It really was easy from beginning to end. Tammy, Valencia, and Josh, and the whole crew really worked to make everything as easy as possible on me. They constantly checked in along the way. From scheduling to packing to moving...it really was a simple and carefree process. The crew was great and spoke very highly of the company culture. Moving is a tough business, so for the crew to really love their jobs was impressive and really nice to hear.

Meticulous and respectful with impressive strength and agility! Everything you could want in a moving company. Tammy's team boxed up our entire home and moved us, including setting up beds and cribs. They moved swiftly, but thoughtfully. All the gentlemen I encountered were polite, courteous and eager to assist. It was a rainy day and they took extra precautions to protect our furniture. We did an initial walkthrough to pinpoint the more valuable items that need special attention and they happily followed every request I made, including setting up my daughter's first big girl bed in time for her to get home from school! I highly recommend Greater Austin Moving for packing, storage and moving. They are the BEST in town.

I have used Greater Austin Moving going on two times now. They are professional, prompt and attentive to moving needs. They handled a last minute move for my daughter and was so accommodating and helpful. Tammy in the office was so friendly and went above and beyond what I expected. We were in a bind at the time and she took the steps necessary to ensure a smooth and quick move. They took great care in moving an entire apartment of furniture. The staff always responds either with a phone call or via email. The pricing is reasonable but what makes them different is that they will accommodate your needs and are willing to work with you to get the job done. I am using them again next month for another move and could not be happier with finding this outstanding moving company.
