As I was reading last night I ran across an article in the Austin Business Journal that reminded me of one of the myriad reasons that we truly and unconditionally love our great city SO much! This inspired me to start a series here sharing with you snippets over time of the things that we believe make Austin the “bee’s knees”. Please note, these will be in no particular order at all. This is a series about Austin so we cannot be too stuffy or structured y’all. So here we begin counting the ways we love Austin…

(1) Back to the article I read last night, it reminded me that I love the entrepreneurial vibe and sense of possibility that our city exudes. It truly does seem that if you can dream it, you can do it here and our recent ranking as the No. 1 U.S. city for startups in the latest Kauffman Index report would attest to that being truer than true!

(2) I love that regardless of how long we have collectively called Austin home we are never at a loss for discovering new places we love in this city. Anthony has been here for 38 yrs., I for 20, and we have two bonafide, budding Austinites that bring our family’s cumulative total years here to 70 and counting. Yet, I am never surprised when we stumble upon another little gem, be it old or new, as we did this past Sunday as we meandered into the TOMS store on South Congress. So much to love here that it might even warrant a mini-series of its own. Needless to say, we will “be back” here many times for sure!

(3) And, while on the subject of South Congress and places that have been around a bit, our Father’s Day dinner to celebrate the Papa that anchors our world could not have been more perfect. We dined at Enoteca Vespaio. I love that you can wander into this casual, unassuming café and dine on a meal that will knock your proverbial socks off! What a welcome respite and nod to our second favorite place in this big ‘ol world. It truly felt as though we were in a small café in Italy. What’s not to love about having that right here at home?

With that I bid you ciao for now. And, from all of us, at GAM, to all of you…salute! We wish you a week of GREATness!
