Five Fun Things To Do In Austin This Weekend

We are so excited to have an extra day for fun this weekend that we can hardly help ourselves as we shuffle through list after list of happenings in and around Austin to decide just what to do! If you find yourself local for the holiday weekend, here are a few of our top picks for you to peruse:

(1) Any list of Memorial Day weekend events should undeniably start with something unmistakably All-American, and we feel that the Round Rock Express eight game homestand that kicks off Thursday night fits the bill for sure! If your Memorial Day holiday is not complete without a full-fledged fireworks display, head on over to Dell Diamond on Friday night for the one surefire way to meet that requirement. Throw in a hotdog for dinner while watching the game and you have all the makings a mighty fine way to kick off this weekend. But, back to the fireworks shall we? There will be a spectacular display following Friday night’s game set to patriotic music to honor the real reason we gather and celebrate this weekend.

(2) If you are feeling adventurous and Austintatious, you should consider the second annual Austin Weird Homes Tour on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a VIP party following from 6-9 p.m. This is a self-paced, driving tour of unique, quirky, and oddly interesting homes that are sure to help in the effort to “Keep Austin Weird”. To learn more and buy tickets, visit Weird Homes Tour. You will also be doing more than just supporting our city’s weird ways since a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales are being donated to Caritas of Austin.

(3) If there is anything this Louisiana girl is good at, it is honing in on any and every opportunity to be found for enjoying her Southern roots here at home. With that, we recommend checking out the Fredericksburg Crawfish Festival, hosted by the Jaycees, which runs from Friday through Sunday and features all-you-can-eat boiled crawfish and live music on all three days! For details, tickets, and the music line-up, you can visit Fredericksburg Jaycees Crawfish Boil.

(4) In all of our excitement, we must not forget the real reason we are blessed with extra time to enjoy family, friends and fellowship this weekend. We think starting Monday off at the A Capella Austin hosted, patriotic concert in the Rotunda of our Texas State Capitol is one great opportunity to stand together to honor those who sacrificed their lives to give us our freedoms. This event begins at noon and is free and open to the public. We feel this is a great opportunity to bring this weekend’s festivities full-circle.

(5) Finally, if you are not tired, or otherwise committed, after the aforementioned concert, we suggest you follow that visit to the Capitol with a visit to the LBJ Presidential Library and Museum. Admission will be free Monday, May 25, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. offering a perfect opportunity to visit the museum’s interactive exhibits and watch compelling films about LBJ and Lady Bird to brush up on your history both from a US and Texas perspective.

" I had a great experience and everything worked out perfect. Moving is not an easy task and the employees here really helped make the situation and task easier. I would recommend using them every time you have to move- office, home or storage - you won't be disappointed.
